Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of X-ray Reference. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Educational use only — not medical advice
X-ray Reference provides educational and informational material only. The site does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services, and it is not a substitute for professional medical judgment.
If you have symptoms, a medical concern, or questions about an imaging study, seek a qualified clinician or radiologist. If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact a licensed clinician or local emergency services immediately.
No clinician-patient relationship
Your use of the site does not create a physician-patient, clinician-patient, hospital-patient, or other professional relationship with X-ray Reference or its operators.
Use of analysis and reference content
The site may show educational analysis, topic explainers, and NIH-derived reference examples to help users learn about imaging patterns. Similarity matches, educational explanations, routing outputs, or other site responses do not establish a diagnosis for any individual image and should not be relied on for clinical decision-making.
Uploads and user responsibility
If you upload an image or send a message through the site, you are responsible for the material you submit. Do not upload content unless you have the right to do so. Do not upload names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, accession numbers, facility labels, embedded metadata, or other identifying or sensitive information.
X-ray Reference is a public, non-clinical educational service. It is not offered as a HIPAA-compliant workflow, medical record system, or secure provider portal.
Acceptable use
You may not use the site to break the law, interfere with the service, reverse engineer protected parts of the service, scrape the site in abusive ways, probe for vulnerabilities, upload malicious files, or use the site in connection with clinical workflows, medical triage, or treatment decisions.
Intellectual property
The site design, software, branding, and original site content are owned by X-ray Reference or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Reference datasets, linked external materials, and third-party marks remain subject to their own rights and policies.
External sources and links
The site may link to external medical, educational, or dataset sources for convenience. X-ray Reference is not responsible for the availability, content, or policies of those third-party resources.
No warranties
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, complete, or accurate for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, X-ray Reference and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business, goodwill, or opportunity arising from or related to your use of the site.
